How To Claim And Stake Your OGV For Triple-Digit APYs
The long-awaited initial distribution phase of Origin Dollar Governance (OGV) is finally here. It’s time for eligible Origin Token (OGN) holders to claim their OGV in the airdrop that puts the governance and economic rewards of our yield-bearing stablecoin, Origin Dollar (OUSD), into the hands of our community. The OGN snapshot occurred on July 06, 2022, at 08:00:02 AM +UTC at Ethereum block height 15,087,759. If you were holding OGN at that block, congratulations! This launch is a hugely important milestone for the protocol in reaching our next phase of decentralized governance.
Once you’ve claimed your OGV, you will be able to stake OGV to earn OUSD fees, additional OGV staking rewards (with triple-digit APYs), and governance privileges. The Foundation and many core team members will be staking the vast majority of our OGV to the new OGV staking program.

Centralized exchange users
We are thrilled that many of the top centralized exchanges, including Binance, Huobi, Upbit, Bithumb, Gate, Kucoin, and others chose to support the OGV launch and widely distribute OGV to hundreds of thousands of holders across the globe.
If you were holding OGN on one of these supporting exchanges, you should be eligible to receive an equal amount of OGV. Please refer to the announcements from each exchange for more details on when you can expect to receive your OGV. We will update this blog post periodically with links to their official announcements.

Private sale investors
OGN holders from our advisor, strategic, and CoinList private sales that have not yet withdrawn their OGN from the Investor Portal will see their OGV credited directly in the app. You can withdraw at any time and stake. Again, staking details are available at the bottom of this post.
Self-custodied wallet users (ie. Metamask users)
If you were holding OGN or had staked OGN using your self-custodied wallet at the time of the snapshot, you can now claim your OGV anytime during the next 90 days at https://governance.ousd.com/claim.
After verifying your wallet’s eligibility, you will be given the opportunity to view a series of brief educational videos that provide a high-level view of the utility and benefits of OGN, OUSD, and OGV. Before claiming, you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles contained within each section by completing a short multiple-choice quiz.
Once you have completed each section by answering the questions correctly, you will be directed to the airdrop claim portal.
Here you can view information such as the total OGV supply, amount of staked OGV, the variable APY of OGV staking rewards, and the percentage of total supply that is staked and locked.
Most importantly, you will see the total amount of OGV available for you to claim. This number should match the amount of OGN that you were holding during the snapshot and also include any incentives you may have earned by providing liquidity to the Curve OUSD Metapool.
Additionally, some users will qualify for staked OGV in the form of veOGV (vote-escrowed Origin Dollar Governance) for holding OUSD. Whether you’re claiming staked OGV or choosing to stake OGV to maximize your rewards and voting power, veOGV is your key to earning even more OGV over time. The airdrop is only the beginning of the OGV token distribution. Long-term believers in OUSD are able to earn substantially more OGV by staking today for anywhere from 1 month to 4 years.
If you’re eligible to claim both OGV and staked OGV, please note that these will be two separate transactions. You will need to confirm each one in your wallet and wait for the transaction to be completed. Remember that your rewards APY and voting power will be greater the longer you stake. You will be able to claim OGV from staking rewards and OUSD fees any time while your OGV is staked. Both of Origin’s founders and multiple core team members will be staking the majority of their OGV holdings for the maximum available time of 4 years, but you should carefully consider whether a short-term or long-term stake is right for you.

Now that you have claimed your OGV on a 1:1 basis with your OGN, don’t forget to visit the newly upgraded Origin Token (OGN) staking program. OGN stakers will earn ETH rewards generated from NFT sales on Origin Story. Additional ETH protocol revenue and OGN rewards will be added to the staking pool in the coming weeks to reward early stakers.
Standalone OGV staking
If you claimed your OGV through a centralized exchange or the Origin investor portal, you will be able to stake your OGV on the governance portal’s staking page.
You will be able to see the current staking APY at the top of the page.
After connecting your wallet, you will be able to adjust the staking amount and duration.
As mentioned above, the longer you stake your OGV the more veOGV you will receive, and the greater your economic and governance privileges over the protocol. The more veOGV you hold relative to everyone else in the staking pool, the larger your staking rewards (OUSD fees and bonus OGV) as well as governance voting weight.
